The Grande Prairie–Greenview Corridor has emerged as Alberta’s leader in housing growth outside the Edmonton and Calgary metropolitan areas. In 2025, the region recorded 579 housing starts, marking a 60% increase from 2024—the highest growth rate among non-metro areas in the province.

This surge reflects strong investor confidence and sustained regional demand. Reeve Amanda McDonald of the County of Grande Prairie expressed pride in the growth, noting the area’s appeal for building careers and enjoying a high quality of life.

The City of Grande Prairie also experienced a significant uptick, with $55.1 million in residential building permits by June 2025, representing over 230 new housing units. Mayor Jackie Clayton highlighted the region’s exceptional value and opportunities for building a future.

Infrastructure developments, such as the completion of the Highway 40 twinning project south of Grande Prairie, have further enhanced the region’s attractiveness for both residents and investors.

The collaborative efforts of Invest NW Alberta, a partnership between local municipalities, continue to promote long-term economic sustainability and investment readiness across the corridor.

With over $14 billion in planned investments, including residential, commercial, and industrial projects, the Grande Prairie–Greenview Corridor is poised for continued growth, solidifying its status as a key economic powerhouse in northwestern Alberta.
