rcmp-blue-and-red-2-6

On February 7, 2026, at approximately 10:27 PM, Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a charter bus on Highway 43, about one kilometre west of Debolt, Alberta.

The bus, carrying 37 passengers—including adults and children—struck the median and rolled over before landing back on its wheels.

Tragically, a 50-year-old woman from Grande Prairie was pronounced dead at the scene.

Six passengers sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital; their current conditions are unknown.

An additional 16 passengers with minor injuries were treated and released.

Non-injured passengers were taken to the Debolt fire hall for shelter.

RCMP’s initial investigation suggests that road conditions may have contributed to the accident.

The collision remains under investigation.

RCMP extends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and encourages anyone affected by this incident to contact local victim services for support.
