The Town of Peace River is launching a new Policing Committee that brings community members together with Town Council, Administration, and the RCMP to help identify policing priorities and address the safety concerns that matter most to residents.
By bringing community members to the table, the committee will help shape practical, locally informed community safety plans. It’s also meant to improve communication and trust between residents and police, with a focus on prevention, collaboration, and long-term solutions.
Peace River residents aged 18 and older are encouraged to apply, especially those with an interest in community safety, local issues, or governance. An enhanced criminal record check is required. Town employees, RCMP members, and other peace officers are not eligible to participate.
The committee will meet at least quarterly throughout the year, with volunteer terms lasting up to two or three years. Required background checks, training, and travel costs will be covered. Residents interested in helping shape the future of community safety can apply through the Board and Committee Member application form on the Town of Peace River website and select the Peace River Policing Committee.
