On January 13, 2026, in Peace River court, Rodney Conrad Ominayak of Little Buffalo pleaded guilty to charges of flight from a peace officer and resisting a peace officer.
He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 90 days credited for time already served.
These charges stem from a July 13, 2025 incident where Peace RCMP responded to reports of shots fired at a vehicle.
The suspect and the vehicle’s occupants were known to each other.
Public sightings led to Ominayak’s arrest without incident.
Earlier, on January 7, he received a 60-day time-served sentence after pleading guilty to operating a vehicle while prohibited and flight from a peace officer.
Several other charges, including dangerous operation of a vehicle, uttering threats, and pointing a firearm, were withdrawn or dismissed.
