  1. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has been called in to investigate an injury to a man in custody.
    Just before Christmas, a man was brought into the High Level detachment, where during the booking process, the suspect was struck in the face, receiving injuries.

  2. Environment and Climate Change Canada is recording some municipalities had record snowfall and high moisture levels, more than double, triple, and even quadruple the 30-year average.
    Even Fort Vermilion made the list, as their December had 245% more moisture recorded than the average, making it the third wettest December on record.

  3. Residents in High Prairie have raised concerns about chloramine in the Town’s drinking water, but Town officials say the water remains safe and continues to meet Health Canada standards.
    CAO David Joy says chloramine is used to keep drinking water clean as it moves through the distribution system.
  4. Alberta hospital staff are calling for the province to declare a state of emergency, as wait times balloon and capacity concerns grow louder.
    Right now, Calgary and Edmonton are experiencing the worst of the problems, but many rural communities, including several in our region, have been expressing concerns over doctor shortages and emergency room capacity.
  5. The Peace River Area Montoring Program is celebrating 15 years of research, and 10 years of the station readings in 2026. (Karla Reesor interview in separate story)
  6. NWJHL this weekend… Fairview is in Peace River, Grande Prairie is in Beaverlodge, and Dawson Creek is FSJ tonight.
    Beaverlodge is in Peace River, Sexsmith is in La Crete, and Dawson Creek is in Grande Prairie tomorrow.
    Sexsmith is in La Crete and Beaverlodge is in FSJ on Sunday.

  7. NPHL this weekend… Valleyview is in Manning tonight. High Prairie is in Valleyview, Manning is in Falher and FSJ is in Fox Creek tomorrow.

  8. AEHL this weekend… The U-13’s play tomorrow in Falher and Sunday in Grande Prairie.
    The U-15’s play tomorrow at home to Fort Saskatchewan and Sunday in Falher. The U-18’s play tomorrow and Sunday at home to Sherwood Park. 

  9. NJHL this weekend… The High Prairie Red Wings play tonight at home to Athabasca, and tomorrow in Redwater.

  10. AJHL this weekend… The Grande Prairie Storm play tomorrow and Sunday at home to Fort McMurray.

  11. The snow will happen this afternoon, and stop tonight in the Peace and Big Lakes, while the Mackenzie remains clear.
    Temperatures are chilly, but will rise throughout tonight and into the weekend.
    Digits will be close to, if not above zero for the first half of next week.
