Between December 24 and 31, 2025, Alberta RCMP intensified traffic safety enforcement across the province, issuing 998 tickets.
These included 242 for speeding, for distracted driving, and 21 seatbelt violations.
Additionally, 121 drivers were removed from the roads for impairment due to drugs or alcohol, comprising 80 Roadside Sanction (IRS) FAILs and IRS WARNs.
Despite these efforts, there were 99 non-fatal injury collisions and six fatal collisions, resulting in seven fatalities.
Sgt. Darrin Turnbull of Alberta RCMP Traffic stated, “We are never happy to report fatal motor vehicle collisions.
Everyone should have been able to make it home safely for the holidays.”
