  1. Northern Sunrise County is warning residents all around the area that structural collapse is being warned about.
    With the amount snow that fell in December, and the impending rising temperatures in the next few days, the increase of structural stress is potentially greater.
  2. The Provincial NDP are throwing their support behind the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation to stop the separatist movement in Alberta.
    Leader Naheed Nenshi says in a statement that the Nation’s efforts are supported to stop a referendum petition from moving forward.
  3. The snow has been a welcome sight for skiers and farmers, but it’s not a sight for ice-fishing enthusiasts.
    The heavy blanket has led to poor ice fishing conditions, thus having weak ice formations on lakes and tributaries.
  4. RCMP around the Northwest are emphasizing caution be used, especially at intersections, with all this snow around.
    Conditions are still quite slick, which means both motorists and pedestrians need to exercise safety tips when out on the roads in town.
  5. Peace Regional RCMP are inviting the public to chat. Coffee with a Cop is happening today from 5-7 at Tim Horton’s on Peace River’s West Hill.
  6. The Alberta government has launched a website for the bitumen pipeline it wants to see built to the northwest B.C. coast.
    It says the page will act as a central hub for project information and updates to ensure transparency and open dialogue.

  8. Five games in the NHL tonight… Calgary is in Montreal, Ottawa is in Utah, Dallas is in Washington, St. Louis is in Chicago, and San Jose is in LA.
  9. Sunshine and comfortable temperatures are in store for the Northwest this afternoon, however the Mackenzie is still dealing with chilly digits.
    Highs this afternoon are in the minus single numbers, except for the Mackenzie at -17.
    Temps get warmer on the weekend, but also a little snow is forecasted for Thursday in the North, and Friday in the South of the region.
