  1. Feedback and priorities have been forwarded by Energy Alberta on September’s Open Houses in the Peace Region.
    The information comes from sessions held in Peace River, Weberville, Grimshaw and Manning, in regards to the Peace River Nuclear Power Project.
  2. The weather continues to clear up in the Northwest, which means the work on Snow Removal moves forward.
    Crews are working in the overnight hours in many jurisdictions, and will be for the remainder of this week.
  3. Issues have been brought forward by the MD of Peace regarding the Level Crossing on Range Road 230, north of Roma.
    The MD says snow removal equipment was the cause of the issue. Since then, the crossing has been cleared, and situations are back to normal.
  4. All this snow has prompted Ski Hills in the region to open earlier than in the last few years.
    Most of the six resorts in the listening area opened their runs between Christmas and New Years, and will continue to be in operation for the next few months.
  5. The Peace River and District Chamber of Commerce is heading into 2026 with optimism.
    The Annual General Meeting taking place next Wednesday at the Emerald Room of the Peace Valley Inn.
    The 2026 Davis Business Awards winners are announced next month at the Quality Inn and Conference Center.
  6. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says the American capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro underlines the urgency of building oil pipelines to export Canadian oil to new markets.
  7. Four Canadian teams are in action in the NHL tonight, as part of a 10-game schedule.
    Nashville is in Edmonton, Las Vegas is in Winnipeg, Vancouver is in Buffalo, and Florida is in Toronto.
  8. The hockey world continues to mourn the loss of two key figures.
    Bob Pulford played 14 seasons in the NHL in Toronto and Los Angeles, winning four Stanley Cups with the Leafs in the 60’s. He was 89 years of age.
  9. David Branch was Commissioner of the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League for 45 years, and president of the Canadian Major Junior Hockey League for nearly 25 years. He was 77 years of age.
  10. The Northwest is finally getting some sunshine, which is welcome relief from the five weeks of snowfall we had in December.
    Digits are also higher than they’ve recently been, at times nudging zero in the Peace and Big Lakes.
    The Mackenzie is still a little cooler, but they are getting a break from the snow as well. Conditions stay the same for the rest of this week.
