Alberta’s New Democratic Party (NDP) has expressed full support for the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation’s legal efforts to halt the province’s separatist referendum petition.
The NDP criticized Premier Danielle Smith and her United Conservative Party (UCP) government for disregarding Treaty rights and proceeding with a referendum question previously deemed unconstitutional by the courts.
They argue that continued separatist rhetoric threatens Alberta’s economy and national security.
The NDP calls for unifying leadership to address pressing issues in health care, education, and affordability, emphasizing that Alberta is stronger within Canada.
