The Tompkins Crossing Ice Bridge in Mackenzie County is now open for the season.
The ice bridge is currently open to light traffic only, with a maximum load capacity of five tonnes. Motorists are reminded to use caution when crossing, obey the posted speed limit and ensure all vehicles and loads remain within the posted weight restrictions.
Officials warn that crossing the ice bridge with loads exceeding the posted capacity poses a serious safety risk and could result in damage to the structure. Overweight loads may lead to temporary closure of the ice bridge while repairs are completed.
Drivers are encouraged to plan accordingly and follow all posted signage to help ensure the safe use of the ice bridge throughout the season.
