On December 4, 2025, at approximately 8:35 p.m., Spirit River RCMP responded to a fatal head-on collision on Highway 2 near Township Road 755.
The crash involved a large SUV and a pickup truck.
The SUV’s driver, a 46-year-old woman from Woking, and the pickup’s driver, a 39-year-old man from Wembley, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Two children, aged 5 and 7, who were passengers in the SUV, were transported to the hospital for evaluation.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the pickup truck attempted to pass a semi-truck, lost control, and collided with the SUV.
The Alberta RCMP extends their condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.
