Peace River Broadcasting’s annual Stuff A Bus fundraiser proved to be another strong success last Friday, November 28, as community members turned out to support local families heading into the holiday season.
Residents packed the bus parked in the River Country and KIX FM studios parking with non-perishable food items for the Peace River Salvation Army Food Bank, as well as toys for the Toys for Tots program.
Thanks to the generosity of residents and the support of partnered businesses — Mighty Peace GM, Mighty Peace Powersports & RV, and Tim Hortons in Peace River — the Mighty Peace Powersports bus was filled to near maximum capacity. In addition to the packed bus, monetary donations exceeded $1,000.
Peace River Broadcasting co-owners Jon Babiy and Lindsay Parenteau said the turnout reflects the strength of the region. “This annual fundraising tradition demonstrates the town’s massive community support and spirit, especially during the festive season,” they said.
The success of Stuff A Bus comes during a time of heightened demand for food banks and for families seeking help with holiday gifts. The hope is the momentum rolls on as other seasonal drives continue across the region.
There is still time to give. For example, donations for Toys for Tots in the Peace River area are being accepted until December 14 at depots across town. Full details on drop-off locations and ways to help are available at RiverCountry.fm and KIX.fm.
