  1. Peace Regional RCMP have a man in custody after investigating a break-in to a business on Sunday.
    The front door had been broken open at a business on 100 Street in Peace River, and after getting security footgage, officers received a report of a male entering unlocked vehicles in a parking lot on 100 Avenue.
  2. Most jurisdictions are planning for 2026 Budget meetings, to be held in the next month or so, including in Fairview, that has their meeting tonight.
  3. GP Vanier School in Donnelly has cleared a hurdle in the fast-tracking of its modernization.
    An architect has been chosen through a consultation process in Donnelly and Falher to determine priorities for the project.
  4. The Provincial and Federal governments are earmarking money to build affordable homes in Alberta.
    $200 million dollars, in joint funding, is being committed to projects in 20 communities.
    In the Peace Region, $1.5 million dollars is being given to Heart River Housing for an addition to the Villa Beausejour Seniors Independent living facility in Falher.
  5. The Alberta Court of Justice has a new Aasistant Chief Judge for tghe Northern Region, and he has a Peace River connection.
    Robert Marceau has been appointed to the position , after his stint as justice in the area since 2018.
  6. Northern Alberta is asking for moisture to fall, residents are begging for it. The Weather Network is recording the driest conditions ever, including the direst fall in 140 years.
  7. The dryness of the summer months have wildfire officials woried about winter burning being done during the season.
    Officials are reminding residents that at least 15cm of snow needs to be on the ground, in order to minimize the risk of starting a wildfire.
  8. Nine members of government caucus are now facing recall petitions – enough to potentially tip the balance of power in the legislature.
  9. The Canadian Olympic Curling Trials in Halifax continues…
    However, Nampa’s Kayla Skrlik has been all but eliminated from the playoffs after a 6-5 loss to Christina Black of Halifax this morning.
    Skrlik at 2-3, will play Kerri Einarson of Gimli Manitoba tonight.
  10. One game in the NHL tonight… Dallas is in Edmonton.
  11. Mainly sunny skies are in the forecast for the Northwest this afternoon. Highs will get just above -10, with lows tonight nudging -15.
