On October 29, 2025, the Slave Lake RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with support from General Duty members, executed a search warrant at a residence Slave Lake, Alberta, following information received about suspected drug trafficking.
The search resulted in the seizure of significant quantity of drug prec, 14 baggies of methamphetamine ready for sale, one baggie of heroin, and various drug paraphernalia.
Two individuals were arrested: 30-year-old Shelby Carifelle of Peavine Métis Settlement, charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and 32-year-old Joey Bigstone of Slave Lake, a known prolific property offender, charged with possession of break and enter tools.
Both were released on conditions after appearing before a justice of the peace and are scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake on December 10, 2025.
