
Alberta’s government is making a historic investment of $220 million through Budget 2025 to combat homelessness, thousands of shelter spaces across the province.
With shelters averaging 75% capacity year-round, an additional $1.8 million is allocated for temporary winter spaces to ensure no Albertan is left in the cold.
Minister Jason Nixon emphasized the urgency, stating, “Winter doesn’t wait, and neither can we.”
Navigation Support Centres in Edmonton and Calgary continue to provide critical services, having assisted over 16,000 individuals since 2024.
This comprehensive approach underscores Alberta’s commitment to supporting its most vulnerable citizens.
