Residents across Alberta were treated to a breathtaking display of northern lights last night (November 11) as an intense geomagnetic storm lit up the skies.
The storm, which reached (G4) Severe levels, is one of the strongest aurora events witnessed in recent years. Vibrant waves of green, red, pink, and purple danced across the night sky.
Experts say the storm was triggered by heightened solar activity. In recent days, the Sun has ejected several powerful bursts of energy, known as coronal mass ejections. As these charged particles reached Earth, they interacted with the planet’s magnetic field, producing the vivid auroral displays.
