  1. Valleyview RCMP, the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society and the Canadian Animal Task Force have participated in a large rescue operation that involved nearly 300 animals.
  2. Peace Regional authorities have a locally wanted female in custody failure to comply, plus warrants.
    31 year-old Sarah Dawn Hewitt of Grimshaw was found hiding on a property on Sunday in town, and faces charges, including removing her Electronic Monitoring Device.
  3. Northwestern Polytechnic is closing their Fairview Campus at the end of the Academic year.
    The Board of Governors state that student demand for programs is primarily focused on Grande Prairie, with students coming to Fairview from areas closer to GP.
  4. Hallowe’en is today, that means roads and neighborhoods will be busy with Trick-or-Treaters tonight.
    It’s also a time where extra caution needs to be undertaken, whether at home, in your vehicle, or just out and about. (Dave Illi interview in separate story)
  5. Reactions to the initial report by the Electoral Boundaries Commission are mixed, but they are coming in.
    Lesser Slave Lake MLA Scott Sinclair is not pleased, saying it’s an attack on democracy, and splitting his riding into three constituencies would weaken Northern Alberta’s representation.
  6. NWJHL this weekend… FSJ is in Fairview, and Grande Prairie is in Sexsmith tonight.
    Beaverlodge is in La Crete, Fairview is in Dawson Creek, and FSJ is in Grande Prairie tomorrow. Beaverlodge is in La Crete on Sunday.
  7. NPHL this weekend… Grande Prairie is in Valleyview tonight. High Prairie is in Spirit River, Dawson Creek is in Manning, and Fox Creek is in FSJ tomorrow.
  8. AEHL this weekend… The U-13’s are off. The U-15’s play three on the road. The U-18’s play tonight at home to Camrose.
  9. NJHL this weekend… The High Prairie Red Wings play tonight in Crowsnest Pass, and tomorrow in Claresholm.
  10. Game 6 of the World series goes tonight in Tornto with the Jays up 3-2. Kevin Gausman starts for the Jays against Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
  11. Not a bad day today for Hallowe’en in the Northwest, but conditions will get wet in the Peace and Mackenzie tonight.
    Highs this afternoon are comfortable, at just above 5 degrees, with lows tonight just above freezing.
    The weekend looks very nice, as we head into November, and gain sleep because of the time change.
