- Investigations are continuing with the fire that happened at the old Belle Petroleum Centre in Peace River on Monday morning.
Reports indicate crews arrived just before 4am to find smoke in the roof, and fire through an open door, and in the ceiling. - Grimshaw Town Council had the Peace Regional RCMP in for a delegation at a recent meeting.
Staff Sergeant Lacey Blair stated that crime rates were down, and Coffee with a Cop is set to start up again. The Peace Regional RCMP is also adding a police dog service this fall. - Trending 55 is talking with the Mayor candidates in the region for next week’s Municipal Election. Shelley Shannon in Peace River says improvements can be made.

The annual Coats for Kids campaign is on right now, thanks to a Peace River business collecting new, or gently-used outer-wear. - Alberta’s finance minister says there’s still a major divide between what the union representing striking teachers is asking for, and what the government is willing to spend, while teachers say they aren’t asking for the world.
- Alberta is gearing up for a significant makeover of its provincial licence plates.
The new plate, slated for release late next year, will feature the theme “Strong and Free,” echoing Alberta’s Latin motto and referencing the Canadian national anthem. - Six Canadian teams in action in the NHL tonight.
Edmonton is at the Islanders, Vancouver is in Dallas, The Rangers are in Toronto, Winnipeg is in Phildelphia, Nashville is in Montreal, and Seattle is in Ottawa. - MLB playoffs resume tonight with Game 3, Milwaukee is in LA, with the Dodgers up 2-0.
As well, Game 4 Toronto is in Seattle, with the Mariners up 2-1. Max Scherzer starts for the Jays. - The NFL Thursday-nighter is Pittsburgh at Cincinnati.
- A mix of sun and cloud this afternoon in the Peace and Big Lakes, while the Mackenzie gets some rainfall. Highs are around 10 degrees, except for just 6 in the Mackenzie.
The rain continues in the Mackenzie, while the Peace and Big Lakes deal with just a few clouds. Lows are above zero, but the day will cool off a little next week.
