The topic of nuclear energy coming to Alberta continues to be discussed.
Peace River MLA Dan Williams says with the provinces power demands expected to continue growing, nuclear could be a part of diversifying energy sources.
That demand for electricity is being driven by a steep increase in population and the province’s plan to become a hub for AI data centres.
Engagement work is being done by the provincial government and Williams says legislation may come from that.
Energy Alberta does have plans to build a nuclear power station in the Peace River area.
