  1. A man from Clear Hills County has been given time served on an assault with a weapon case.
    Luke Anderson pleaded guilty to firearms charges, after an incident in May that led to a search of a property in Bluesky.
  2. Charges have been withdrawn in a case involving firearms.
    Accusations against Chaos Daryl Ghostkeeper were dropped in court, after an incident in January near Simon Lake.
  3. Alberta Teachers have rejected the latest offer for a new contract, setting up a strike next week.
    Meanwhile, the Provincial Government has set up a program where parents of students under 12, who attend school, are supplied $30 a day, or $150 a week, per student, during the labour action.
  4. Municipal Election campaigns are underway, in anticipation of October 20th’s vote.
    All-Candidate forums are being organized for this week, for questions to be asked, and platforms to be presented. (Brandon Huberts interview in separate story)
  5. Peavey Mart has begun the process of re-opening stores in Alberta. However, there is no word yet, as to whether the stores in High Prairie will reopen, and when.
    The Farm store chain closed store across Canada earlier this year, but will reopen stores in the late fall in Spruce Grove, Westlock, Camrose and Lacombe.
  6. NWJHL tonight… Grande Prairie is in Beaverlodge… The Wheat Kings are 3-4, the Blades are 4-3.
  7. MLB Wild Card series Game 2… Detroit is in Cleveland, San Diego is in Chicago, Boston is in New York, and Cincinnati is in Los Angeles.
    The Tigers, the Cubs, the Red Sox, and the Dodgers won the Opening games last night.
  8. NHL pre-season… Edmonton is in Seattle, and Vancouver is in Calgary. Opening night is Tuesday.
  9. Cloudy and cool for the day today in the Northwest, with highs only in the low teens.
    The clouds will stick around tonight, with lows being just above 5, except for just above freezing in the Mackenzie.
    Temps will stay in the teens until the weekend, when highs don’t reach 10 degrees, and lows will be below zero.
