  1. Finance Minister Nate Horner says the Alberta Teachers’ Association and the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association have reached a tentative agreement that will be voted on in the coming days.
    There aren’t any specifics on the deal yet, but Horner says the tentative agreement is strong on classroom investment.
  2. RCMP officers say that Gage Cadorette-Lawrence was last seen leaving Kinuso school aboard a black Dodge pickup truck last Thursday.
    He lives on the Swan River First Nation but police believe he may be headed towards Edmonton.
  3. Peace Regional police have uncovered a significant seizure in Dixonville.
    Drugs, a firearm, tools, jewelry and evidence of copper wire stripping were found, among other things in the vehicle, stolen in August in Mackenzie County.
  4. The proposed Nuclear Power Project in the Peace River is continuing with consultation, and information stage.
    Engagement sessions are continuing this week around the region, to bring more facts, and answer more questions about the proposed facility. (Ali Hounsell Interview in separate story)
  5. The fourth annual Peace River and Area Job Fair is front and center this afternoon, starting at 4:00 at Riverdrive Mall Downtown.
  6. Some jurisdictions in the Northwest are short of nominees for October’s Municipal Election.
    As per the Elections Act, the nomination period continues until next week, or until nominations are received.
  7. The Harvest in the Peace Region is steadily progressing. Nearly 60% of the crop is in the bin in Alberta, which is up 20 percentage points from last week.
    In the Peace Region, over 60% of the Harvest is done, which is up 20 percentage points ahead of average.
    Specifically, Dry Peas are at 96%, Spring Wheat is at 76%, Barley is at 74%, Oats are at 57%, and Canola is 43% done.
  8. NWJHL tonight… Fairview is in Dawson Creek, and Beaverlodge is in Grande Prairie.
  9. In Baseball, The Toronto Blue Jays continue their series against Boston at Roger’s Center tonight. Max Scherzer starts for the Jays against Garrett Crochet.
    The magic number to clinch the Division, remains at 4.
  10. NHL Pre-season action tonight… Seattle is in Edmonton, and Calgary is in suburban Vancouver.
  11. Digits continue to cool off as the Fall season is in full swing in the Northwest. Highs this afternoon are in the mid to upper teens, under generally sunny skies.
    Lows tonight will be frosty as they begin to nudge the freezing mark. There is a chance of rain in the Mackenzie on Friday night.
