  1. High Prairie RCMP have made an arrest in a incident involving a weapon from earlier this morning.
    Police were called to the Atikameg area, to a man who was muttering to himself, while swinging and pointing a long knife.
  2. Peace Regional Police are looking for suspects in a Break, Enter and Theft at a shop, early Friday morning.
    The shop, in the area of Hwys 986 and 743 north of Peace River, had the door rammed to gain entrance, where 4 individuals took various tools and items.
  3. While Peace Regional police were arresting the suspect in the Subway break-in, they also learned the suspect faces more charges in a separate incident.
    23 year-old Tanner Hatter was arrested and released on Friday, and then on Sunday, police responded to a shoplifting complaint on 101st Ave.
  4. Firefighters from across the province are descending on Peace River for the 2025 Northern HEAT Fire Training Conference, that starts today.
    Two days of Fire training are taking place at the facility in the West Hill Industrial area, followed by presentations, and a Trade Fair at the Chateau Nova, happening on Friday and Saturday.
  5. The town of Peace River has approved the use of 73rd Ave. for school bus transportation at Ecole Quatre-Vents.
    That means students will be allowed to board and get off the bus at the main doors of the school.
  6. The Provincial Government is adding to the financial coffers of Women’s Shelters across Alberta.
    $10 million dollars over the next four years has been earmarked for Shelter resources. The Women’s Shelters in both Peace River and Fairview will be benefiting from this new funding.
  7. Riverfront Park in Peace River will be busy later on today to remember those lost by suicide. World Suicide Prevention Day is today, and a gathering is happening at 5:00.
    Entertainment, speakers and a vigil will be held.
  8. The La Crete Lumber Barons are set for another NWJHL season. (Dion Knelsen interview in separate story)
  9. The Mighty Peace Basketball League has announced the first-ever Fall Classic Men’s Basketball tournament.
    It takes place October 25 and 26 at Glenmary School in Peace River.
  10. The Toronto Blue Jays continue their series with Houston tonight at Rogers Center. Jose Berrios starts for the Jays against Jason Alexander.
  11. The sunshine continues this afternoon in the Northwest, with highs in the low to mid 20’s. Lows tonight are still a little cool, at just above five degrees.
    Digits might cool off a little next week.
