Firefighters from across Alberta are set to converge on Peace River for the 24th Annual Northern HEAT Fire Training Conference, running from September 10 to 13.

Organized by the Peace Regional Fire Chiefs Association, this event offers specialized training typically unavailable to northern fire departments.

The conference begins with two days of live fire training at the Peace River Fire Department’s West Hill industrial training site.

Sixty-four participants will engage in exercises covering fire behavior, flashover scenarios, interior fire attacks, forcible entry, confined space escapes, and handling dumpster and gas flange fires.

On September 12 and 13, attendees will attend presentations on leadership and participate in hands-on training sessions led by esteemed instructors from both Canada and the U.S. Topics include fire dynamics, vehicle extrication techniques, and entry-level rope rescue.

A trade show featuring over 25 fire industry suppliers and service providers will be held at the Chateau Nova Hotel on September 12 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and September 13 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Peace River Fire Chief Tim Harris encourages residents to welcome the visiting firefighters and express appreciation for their dedication to community safety.
