  1. Peace Regional RCMP are continuing with an investigation into a serious crash over the weekend.
    The accident happened on Hwy 986 at the entrance to the Woodland Cree First Nation on Saturday afternoon.
  2. Peace Regional RCMP are looking to identify a suspect in a Break, Enter and Theft in downtown Peace River.
    Police say on Friday morning, the suspect broke in and stole various snack and drink items before leaving.
  3. The hot, and dry conditions have allowed the Harvest to be 20% done, which means more than 10 percentage points were gained this past week.
  4. September 22 is the deadline day to submit nomination paperwork for the upcoming Municipal and School Board Election.
  5. Alberta parents are bracing for a potential teacher strike or lockout.
    Last week, contract talks between the Alberta Teachers’ Association and the provincial government broke down and the two sides still remain at an impasse.
  6. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said she hears the province’s teachers loud and clear and wants to find a fair way to make a deal.
    In terms of salaries, she said the province is offering 3% a year for four years, which she insisted is both competitive and a number the province can afford.
  7. Peace River minor football hosts a BBQ to unveil their new scoreboard at Glenmary School.
    The North Peace Navigator host a tailgate party as they open the 2026 NWJHL season. Both events are on Friday.
  8. The Toronto Blue Jays have the day off today before starting a three-game set against Houston at Roger’s Center tomorrow.
    The Jays have a 2-game lead on the Yankees in the AL East, with less than 20 games to go.
  9. The NFL Monday-nighter tonight is Minnisota at Chicago.
  10. Smoke is in the air in the Peace and Mackenzie, prompting Air Quality Warnings, because of the fires from the BC Interior.
    Highs today are in the low to mid 20’s under generally clear skies. Lows at night are still a little chilly, with digits being one number.
    Same conditions are applying for the next couple of days.
