- The MD of Peace is shaping their future, and asking residents to provide feedback.
A survey has been published where the information will be considered for a new Municipal Development Plan. - Modernization of L’Ecole Heritage in Falher will still be going ahead. The Alberta Government approved the project, despite the budget being in deficit.
Conseil Scolaire du Nord-Ouest says the important step allows students and staff to be provided with a modern, safe and inspiring learning environment. - The Miserable Miles Obstacle Race is happening tomorrow at Misery Mountain. It’s over 6 km of fun and excitement, either from a participant or an audience perspective.
- The Sucker Creek Indian Relay Races are at the Post for this weekend at the High Prairie Rodeo Grounds.
On-site food, crafts, drummers, dancers and vendors are present. The Grand Entry for both Saturday and Sunday is at 1pm. - A new contract has been reached between some 23,000 civil servants and the Alberta government, averting a strike that could’ve happened as soon as next week.
The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees says the mediator-recommended deal passed with 63% of voting members in favour. - Two 2SLGBTQ+ advocacy organizations are launching a court challenge against the Alberta government’s name and pronoun restrictions, which came into effect in the province’s schools this week.

Peace River is in Grande Prairie on Sunday. Meanwhile, the La Crete Lumber Barons start training camp today. - Local Football starts this weekend in the Peace region. The Peace River Prospectors bantam football team plays in Grande Prairie against the Raiders tomorrow.
- CFL this weekend… Three games tomorrow, Hamilton is in Montreal, Saskatchewan is in Winnipeg, and Calgary is in Edmonton.
- Lots of sunshine is scheduled for Northwest Alberta for this weekend, and into next week. Highs during the day will be in the low to mid 20’s.
Lows at night will be nudging 10 degrees, to make things comfortable at night. At this point, there is a slight chance of showers forecasted for Monday night in the Mackenzie.
