  1. Alberta Major Crimes has arrested an individual in relation to the incident at Riverfront Park on Tuesday morning.
    The victim is identified as 35 year-old Anton Vincent Carifelle of McLennan. 25 year-old Kelleo Alook of Peace River is charged with Manslaughter, and weapons offenses.
  2. Alberta Major Crimes has been called in to investigate a body discovered on the Driftpile Cree Nation.
    Autopsies are scheduled for today, but the death is being treated as a homicide.
  3. The RCMP Musical Ride will make four tour stops in the Northwest in the latter half of August.
    Corps Seargent Major Elaine Maisonneuve, who resides and serves in Ottawa, is coming home, as part of the Ride for the show in Donnelly. (Interview in separate story)
  4. Crops are still classified as in tough shape in the Peace Region. About 25% of the major crops are in Good to Excellent condition.
    But that is still around 30 percentage points below the five and ten-year averages. Sub-Surface moisture is still in the same boat, that being well below five and ten-year averages.
    Harvest has begun in the Peace Region.
  5. The Peace Regional Pool is in shutdown mode. The pool is closed for annual maintenance, and for the start of renovations and installations of the Hot Tub.
    The Pool is expected back open towards the first half of October, however could experience some disruptions during renovations.
  6. Byelection happening in rural Alberta riding, Federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre running in Battle River-Crowfoot riding.
  7. The Wheatbelt Baseball League final is still yet to be decided. Peace River won the resumption of Game 2 on Friday night 2-1 in 8 innings.
    Game 4 was started, but had to be halted, due to darkness, with the score tied 2-2 after 8 innings.
    The resumption of Game 4, and the whole of Game 5, if necessary, will be played tomorrow in Rycroft. The Rage lead the series 2-1.
  8. The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game set tonight in Pittsburgh. Kevin Gausman starts for the Jays against Paul Skenes.
  9. A mix of sun and cloud is forecasted for the Northwest today, with a chance of showers. Highs are in the low 20’s, with lows tonight in the upper single-digits.
    Skies could be moisturizing the landscape by mid-week.
