On August 12, 2025, at approximately 3:10 a.m., Peace River RCMP responded to a shooting in downtown Peace River.
The victim, 35-year-old Anton Vincent Carifell of McLennan, Alberta, was conscious upon police and EMS arrival but succumbed to his injuries the following day.
An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as homicide by firearm.
On August 14, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit arrested 25-year-old Peace River resident Kelleo Alook, charging him with manslaughter, firearms-related offences, pointing a firearm, and assault with a weapon.
Alook is remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice today, August 18, 2025.
