As Albertans prepare for the Heritage Day long weekend, the Alberta RCMP is emphasizing road safety to ensure everyone their destinations safely.
Key reminders include avoiding impaired driving, as alcohol and drugs impair judgment and reaction time; eliminating distractions such as texting or adjusting devices while driving; adhering to speed limits and adjusting for road conditions; ensuring all passengers are properly buckled up; being vigilant for other road users like cyclists and pedestrians; and informing someone of your travel plans.
Sgt. Darrin Turnbull of Alberta RCMP Traffic advises, “By following safe driving practices, such as leaving early, staying alert, and driving according to conditions, we can help ensure Alberta’s roadways are safe for everyone this August long weekend.”
