A representative from Heart River Housing presented project assessment for the Red Willow Lodge Enhanced Living Addition to the Council.
Following the presentation, the Council received a formal request for $10 million to support the construction of this project.
The proposed addition includes 30 enhanced lodge units designed for independent seniors requiring some support.
These units will feature one- and two-bedroom suites, full kitchens, in-suite laundry, and optional services like housekeeping and meals.
The Council approved funding up to $10 million, contingent upon establishing a funding agreement with key partners, including the Affordable Housing Partnership Program, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), and Heart River Housing, by September 9, 2025.
Before proceeding, the Council will review the agreement to ensure the investment aligns with its goal of collaborating with housing authorities to develop senior supportive housing facilities.
