On December 30, 2024, High Prairie RCMP responded to a call in a wooded area of the Atikameg First Nation, where they discovered the body of 26-year-old Christian Mitchell with suspicious injuries.
The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation, and an autopsy confirmed Mitchell’s death was a homicide.
Now, months later, a major development: on July 25, 2025, 44-year-old Rodney Nahachick and a 15-year-old male, both from Atikameg, were arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
The pair remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in Alberta Court in High Prairie on July 28.
