  1. One person is dead after five boaters got stranded on a sandbar on Lesser Slave Lake, late Friday night.
    The other four were rescued, but the boat and the victim, a 39 year-old man from Grande Prairie were found the next day.
  2. The Fairview Health Complex Emergency Department is temporarily without on-site physician coverage from now through to Thursday morning.
    Nursing staff is on-site providing triage, assessments, and referrals for patients to alternate Emergency Departments in neighboring communities, as needed.
  3. Berwyn Council has approved the holding of a property auction for Tax Recovery. Reserve bids are being based on 2024 market values or market estimates.
    The auction is slated for mid October.
  4. Berwyn Council is in the discussion phase of the Village’s Fiscal Framework grant funding.
    Initial ideas coming forward include curb, gutter, and sidewalk repairs, a bike park, and an outdoor rink. Administration has been asked to get quotes for the proposed projects.
  5. The Outbreak of the Measles has had more cases in Alberta since March, than in the entire United States during the same time.
    A good number of potential exposures have been reported in Manning, Peace River, High Level, La Crete, Fort Vermilion and Grimshaw over the past few weeks.
  6. The Alberta NDP has launched a new summer initiative to speak to Albertans on their home turf to keep unity within the province.
    Nenshi said the NDP will be attending festivals, community events, parades and hosting town halls throughout the province, with a focus on “mid-size and smaller communities.”
  7. The Wheatbelt Baseball League has announced more game for the semi-final, which start this week. Game 1 and 2 will be played tomorrow and Thursday.
    Peace River plays Grimshaw and Rycroft plays Grande Prairie in a best-of-five.
  8. The CFL is reviewing its updates to fans on weather-related issues. This after poor air quality forced the rescheduling of a game last weekend.
    Many fans were frustrated and forced to wait at the stadium before the decision was made to move the game.
  9. The Toronto Blue Jays are mourning the loss of an original. Jim Clancy spent a dozen of his 15 seasons pitching for Toronto, including the inaugural season of 1977.
    Clancy is third on the club in wins as a Jay behind Dave Steib and Roy Halladay. Jim Clancy was 69 years of age.
  10. Sunshine is happening this afternoon with highs in the mid 20’s. Lows tonight will be comfortable at just above 10 degrees.
    The sunshine and warm temperatures continue into this weekend.
