Tragedy on Lesser Slave Lake in northern Alberta—one man is dead after five boaters became stranded on a sandbar late Friday night.
High Prairie RCMP say the group was stuck when their boat drifted away.
A 39-year-old man from Grande Prairie tried to retrieve it, but was swept underwater.
The remaining four were rescued by Big Lakes County Fire.
A large search effort followed, with help from locals, RCMP, and a dive team.
On Saturday, a helicopter spotted the boat, and a fisherman using sonar found the missing man’s body.
The investigation is ongoing.
