  1. RCMP around the area are reminding motorists to slow down, and be mindful of Construction Zones.
    This after a motorcyclist in Grande Prairie was caught doing 106 in a 30 construction zone on Wednesday.
  2. The Peace Regional Waste Management Company is wanting to build a new landfill for the Peace River area.
    The new site is 30 km east of Peace River, and will start construction in 2027. (Art Sawatzky interview in separate story)
  3. The 21st annual Peace River Powwow is this weekend at the Baytex Energy Center.
    Indigenous culture, resilience, and community is being celebrated, plus contests and stew and bannock.
  4. The Blue Sky Music Festival is happening this weekend with many acts on the agenda.
  5. The Lesser Slave Watershed Council are hosting their “Kids can Catch” Family Day event on Saturday at Winagami Lake Provincial Park.
    Door prizes, a Free lunch, plus other amenaties are available, as free fishing weekend in Alberta takes place.
  6. Wheatbelt Baseball League playoff this weekend… Game 1 tonight – Manning is in Grande Prairie, Game 2 and possibly 3 is Sunday in Manning.
    Game 2 – Grimshaw is in Sexsmith on Sunday, the Huskies took the opening game.
  7. The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game weekend set in Sacremento against the A’s tonight. Max Scherzer starts for the Jays against Luis Severino.
  8. CFL this weekend… Calgary is in Saskatchewan tonight. Ottawa is in Hamilton tomorrow. BC is in Edmonton on Sunday.
  9. A mix of sun and cloud is slated for this afternoon in the Northwest. The wind will pick up as well, especially in the Peace and Big Lakes.
    Highs are in the mid 20’s this afternoon, with lows tonight being quite mild, in the mid teens.
    Digits slightly cool off on Sunday, but will bounce back, come the middle of next week.
