  1. Spraying season is underway in the fields of Northwestern Alberta. (Jason Casselman Interview in separate story)
  2. Curb, Gutter and Asphalt are occupying a lot of the roads in Downtown Peace River, and along Hwy 743, out to Marie Reine.
    As well, a 15-kilometre stretch of Hwy 750, just south of Grouard, is undergoing construction. Both projects are hoping to be complete by the end of September.
  3. Flooring replacement is underway at the Mile Zero Multiplex in Grimshaw. Over 7,000 square feet of flooring is being switched out in the main area of the building.
    The replacement was needed after a water main break at the facility, back in November.
  4. Peace Regional Waste Management is proposing a new landfill, and are wanting the public’s feedback.
    An Open House is scheduled for 2:00 this afternoon and 6:00 tonight at the Community Hall in St. Isadore. The Landfill is expected to reach capacity in the next five years.
  5. Alberta plans to hold public consultations this fall on adding nuclear power to the province’s energy mix.
    Energy Alberta is working on a power station in the Peace River area that would have two to four Candu reactors and a capacity of up to 4,800 megawatts.
  6. It may be summer, but Training Camps are being scheduled for teams in the NWJHL. The Fairview Flyers have their Camp August 15-17.
    Teams are also looking for billet homes for players. Interested parties can contact their team by phone, e-mail, or through Facebook.
  7. The Toronto Blue Jays play the second of their three-game set in Chicago against the White Sox tonight. Chris Bassitt starts for the Jays against Aaron Civale.
  8. A mix of Sun and cloud with a chance of showers in on deck for this afternoon in the Northwest. Highs will be in the mid 20’s, with lows tonight again being in the low teens.
    Digits will drop a little tomorrow, but will rebound nicely on Thursday, and just in time for the weekend.
