Sinclair Talks About PC Party Revival

scott-sinclair-2

Lesser Slave Lake MLA Scott Sinclair has been in the middle of a big political story in Alberta with the revival of the Progressive Conservative Party.

After his removal from the UCP caucus, Sinclair says it was the potential talk around separation that was a major catalyst behind having the PC Party come back.

“I’m not a separatist. That was a difficult thing for me because we never campaigned on that in 2023. We never campaigned on an Alberta Pension Plan or some of these other issues largely because they were really unpopular. When we were canvassing at the doors, not just in the riding but all over the province, it was one of the things that we were often defending and saying at that time that we weren’t going to implement.”

The other MLA in the party is Peter Guthrie, who resigned as the province’s Infrastructure Minister earlier this year.

Sinclair says even after the announcement of the new party, there are other steps involved in making it official.

“We need to get 8900 signatures, hand written ones, in order to get official party status. That’s what out focus is going to be over the summer months and we’re going to be showing up in our blue PC Alberta t-shirts at events in Slave Lake, events in High Prairie, events all over the riding but also in the bigger cities with our volunteer teams in order to get those hand written signatures.”

Sinclair says once they’ve collected enough signatures, that’s when they’ll be able to sell memberships and collect donations.
