HFCRD Board of Trustees May Meeting Highlights
(May 15th, 2024)
HFCRD & St. Thomas More School in Fairview
MOTION: The HFCRD Board of Trustees moved that the Board supports the request from parent delegates to enter into the process of transferring St. Thomas More Catholic School K-12 in Fairview to Holy Family Catholic Regional Division in Peace River, with the support from Grande Prairie Catholic School Division and the Minister of Education. (Carried unanimously)
Ward 2 – McLennan Nomination
The nomination deadline for Ward 2 – McLennan was Wednesday, May 15th at Noon.
Two nominations were made, however one of the candidates doesn’t meet the ward boundary requirements.
The position will be acclaimed.

High Prairie Youth Assessment Centre
The Youth Assessment Centre in High Prairie has been closed since November 2023, after a fire in the building. The future of the facility will be determined after a study on the building, which won’t be completed until sometime in 2025.
A meeting has been requested with the Minister of Children and Family Services to discuss the future of the St. Francis Holistic Learning Centre.
Holy Family School Hockey Academy
The Board of Trustees voted to support a Hockey Academy at Holy Family School in Grimshaw for 2024-25, to be reviewed at the end of the school year. The Hockey Academy would be for Grade 7,8, and 9 students, and would be based on lessons provided by Hockey Alberta & Hockey Canada.
HFCRD Budget for 2024-25 Approved
The HFCRD Budget for 2024-25 was approved, and will be released on May 31st. Division Education Assurance Plan
The Board approved the Division Education Assurance Plan for 2024-2026.
The six domains of the assurance plan: Faith Permeation, Student Growth & Achievement, Teaching & Leading, Learning Supports, Governance, Local & Societal Context.
