  1. An update on a missing person case in Fort Vermilion. RCMP are reporting that 23 year-old Darius Cameron Noskiye has been located, deceased.
    Noskiye was last seen on Monday in John D’or Prairie.
  2. The rain is certainly helping with the fires in the Northwest. The main ones are the Teepee Creek fire and the Valhalla Fire, which are both listed as Being Held.
    In the meantime, Air Quality remains an issue in the Peace and Mackenzie.
  3. Despite the rain, Fire Bans are in effect in the High Level and Grande Prairie Forest areas.
    OHV restrictions and other advisories are also remaining in place around the Northwest.
  4. A five-year-old girl was killed in what is believed to have been a head-on crash north of Edmonton Tuesday evening.
    The crash happened around 8 p.m. on Highway 2, north of Township Road 602.
  5. Alberta’s rural municipalities are teeing off on a trilogy of provincial bills they say erode trust and attack local authority.
    Paul McLauchlin of the Rural Municipalities of Alberta, says legislation giving the province the ability to take control of local emergency responses isn’t salvageable.
  6. The province has released more information on its plan to break up Alberta Health Services and replace it with four sector-based health agencies.
    AHS will be replaced by agencies for primary care, acute care, continuing care and mental health and addiction.
  7. The drive out of Fort McMurray under orange, smoke-filled skies was a harrowing reminder for evacuees who also fled the threat of wildfire in 2016.
    The 21,000-hectare wildfire that prompted the evacuation order was 5.5 km away from Wood Buffalo’s landfill, southwest of Fort McMurray.
  8. BC’s wildfire service says the blaze threatening Fort Nelson now spans nearly 130 square km, but it had spread away from the town along its southern flank.
    Cooler temperatures and higher humidity were expected to make for more favourable conditions fighting the fire, two kilometres southwest of the town earlier this week.
  9. Wheatbelt Baseball Leaguer tonight… Rycroft is in Grande Prairie.
  10. NHL Playoffs tonight… Game 5, Edmonton is in Vancouver with the series tied 2-2. Game 6 Carolina is at the Rangers with them up 3-2.
  11. World Hockey Championships… Canada plays Norway this afternoon, looking to improve to 4-0 at the tournament.
  12. And the sports media world is mourning the loss of a colleague. Darren Dutchyshen spent nearly 30 years at TSN, after starting his career in his native Saskatchewan.
    Darren Dutchyshen passed away from prostate cancer yesterday. He was 57 years of age.
  13. The rain will be falling in the Northwest, until at least the end of tonight. Temps will be cool today, at only around 10 degrees, with lows just above freezing.
    Skies are expected to clear up, in time for the long weekend.
