Grande Prairie RCMP advise of heavy police presence – Update
Grande Prairie, Alta. – On April 6, 2022, at approximately 9:33 a.m., Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a threat to the Grande Prairie Composite High School. As a precaution, Grande Prairie Composite High School, as well as Peace Wapiti School, were evacuated.
Preliminary investigation determined the origin of the threat was from a phone call from the United States. Grande Prairie RCMP believe there is no risk to students or staff at this time.
Grande Prairie RCMP would like to thank the school for their assistance and the public for their patience and understanding.
Grande Prairie RCMP take threats like these very seriously as they can have significant impact on students, staff, families and our community’s feeling of safety and mental well-being.
The investigation is ongoing at this time and Grande Prairie RCMP are asking the public’s assistance for any information in relation to this incident. Anyone who may have information is asked to contact Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-930-5700 or your local police.

Grande Prairie, Alta. – There is a heavy police presence in the area of the Grande Prairie Composite High School and Peace Wapiti School. Both schools have been evacuated as a result of a potential threat.
Residents in the area and parents are urged to not attend while the police conduct their investigation.
