The Town of Rainbow lake is excited to be moving forwards with the construction phase of their Southeast Fire Guard Project.
The town said in their February 2022 Newsletter they have been working on the project for the past few years to help improve Rainbow Lakes wildfire mitigation strategy on the borders of town.
The project consists of a 100-meter wide community fire guard along the Southeast border of the town.
Flammable vegetation will be removed to provide a break of fuels for wildfire to prevent the spread as well as increase community safety.
The Town of Rainbow Lake is asking the public to use caution when travelling on Highway 58 and within town limits with an increase of vehicles and heavy equipment in the area due to ongoing work for multiple projects.
The wildfire guard project has estimated to be finished construction by March 15, 2022, if there are no unforeseen circumstances, otherwise the timeline will be extended.
