  1. The Provincial Government is investing a one-time grant to a dozen research associations for upgrades.
    $3.2 million dollars goes to each of the twelve organizations to help extend the life of facilities, infrastructure, and equipment.
  2. While most students in the Peace River School Division enjoy their last day of classes today, it’s a bitter-sweet feeling in Dixonville.
    The Peace River School Division voted to close the school, back in April, due to declining enrollment.
  3. As the school year comes to an end for many students, negotiations between the Alberta Teachers’ Association and the province remains in limbo.
    Earlier this month, the ATA released the results of a strike vote, showing 94.5% of teachers were in favour of striking.
  4. A new Fire Hall in Teepee Creek is beginning the construction phase. Volunteer Firefighters and emergency calls in the area are on the rise, prompting the necessity for the new facility.
    As well, the service has outgrown their current space, thus making way for a new three-bay Hall.
  5. Despite the restrictions in place right now, camping is a leisure activity in the Northwest for everyone to enjoy.

  6. Week 4 of the CFL begions tonight with Edmonton in Winnipeg.
  7. The Toronto Blue Jays play the rubber match of their three-game set in Cleveland this afternoon. Kevin Gausman starts for the Jays against Tanner Bibee.
  8. Very pleasent afternoon with a mix of sun and cloud, in store for the Northwest, with highs in the mid 20’s.
    Lows tonight might start to get a little warm, being in the low teens. Digits do get slightly warmer heading into the weekend, but skies will be clearing out as well.
