The Peace Country Sports Club loses parking lease

In a notice from the Peace Country Sports Club, Peace River Broadcasting has learned that  the  provincial government has taken away the club’s lease to park in their parking lot.

Brian Weston with the sports club says that when they started conversations in July, he thought it was just a matter of renewing the lease. “Then we talked on Friday and pretty well it was a done deal, we were losing the lease, there really was no discussion.”

The government is wanting to fill their building near the sports club with more people.  Naturally they will need more parking, so they will be taking over the sports club’s parking lot.

At this point, Weston doesn’t know where members will park. Unfortunately, members will just have to park wherever they can.  He adds that it makes things difficult for handicapped members who depended on having parking close to the entrance, and families whose children go to their preschool.

Weston says there is no possibility  of the government being willing to renegotiate. The parking lot is no longer  available to members between 8 am and 4:30 pm. Anyone who parks there, may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.
