RCMP investigating incident that led to lock-down of GPRC building in Grande Prairie

Mounties in Grande Prairie are investigating an incident that led to the lock-down of Grande Prairie Regional College.

According to the RCMP, officers responded to a report of a male walking through the school waiving a knife around 10:00 am.

The building was locked down and a search was conducted.

Police learned through witnesses and college security that the suspect had walked through the building waiving what looked like a stick.

The suspect was tracked down outside of the building and taken into custody without incident.

The lock-down was lifted after the RCMP determined there was no longer a threat to staff and students.

Early reports indicate there were no threats made and no injuries, but officers continue to investigate.

The Mounties are not releasing any additional information at this time.
