Over at Muskoseepi Park in Grand Prairie this past weekend the Bear Creek Folk Festival went on in the sunshine and rain providing people with solid alternative entertainment. The festival saw headliners Alan Doyle, Feist and the legendary Blue Rodeo perform along with acts like Crash Test Dummies, Dan Mangan, and acts from as far away as Australia. People showed up in pouring rain with tarps, rain coats, boots to keep the fun going and enjoy the wide variety of music including country, Celtic, blues, gospel, Americana and much more. It was a great chance to be exposed to new artists you normally wouldn’t have heard of before like a francophone group called Hey, Wow who had the crowd with smiles, clapping along in the rain with some up beat numbers as well as some great humor in between songs. It had face painting and activities for the kids to really make it a family affair with a number of food selections. Hopefully you took the chance to check it out if not maybe make plans to do so next year.
