The Alberta Pond Hockey Championships are coming back to Lac Cardinal in the beginning of March.
The president of the event, Dave Allen, says it’s become a premier winter event in the 12 years since it started.
“For people to come out and see it for the first time, they’re always really surprised about how much effort and volunteer work goes into an event like this. Then they get out there and they see all the rinks and the big tents set up and all the services that are offered out there, they realize that it’s something special.”
Even though the event is only a few weeks away, Allen says there’s still time for more teams and volunteers to sign up to be a part of the event.
“We’re certainly not full yet for teams on the adult side or the junior side. The teams should be getting their sign up right away done through the website or calling in. We’re still looking for volunteers, we’ve got some that have already registered and we’ve got them lined up for stuff to do but we can always use more.”
