It’s been almost 9 months since an accident left 16 members of the Humboldt Broncos dead, shaking the nation. a petition is now underway to have the Federal Government take over the trucking industries regulations and training. currently Ontario is the only province with a mandatory driver training program however Saskatchewan and Alberta will be introducing new rules that take effect this march.
Currently all driver training can be done by the employer rather than the provincial government, meaning some drivers can get a class 1 license with little training past the basics.“If somebody wanted to drive but didn’t want to take the training they could just move to the province that doesn’t have that training regulations and get their licence,” said Lyle Brons, who’s daughter was killed in the crash. the petition is currently at 971 signatures as of writing and can be signed at
