Nampa man arrested after firearm investigation

Peace Regional RCMP have laid charges following an altercation in Peace River on Monday.

At approximately 1:18 on Monday afternoon, RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance in the south end of the town. During the incident, it is reported that a firearm has been brandished. As police arrived, the suspects reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle. The vehicle was later found by the police, and they conducted a high risk arrest of the occupants, which caused a temporary disruption on the bridge.

31-year old Mukhtar Ali of Nampa has been charged with Unauthorized possession of a firearm, possessing a firearm contrary to prohibition, resisting arrest, and failing to comply.

Ali was previously arrested in connection to an armed robbery in Nampa on July 13th, and was charged. He was released from police custody until his court appearance on Monday, the same day of the second incident.

The accused remains in police custody and is expected to appear in Falher provincial court on September 5th.
