Male youth found safe after RCMP search of Buffalo Head Prairie

BUFFALO HEAD PRAIRIE — A 14-year-old youth has been found safe after disappearing from a group of hikers in the Buffalo Head Prairie area over the weekend.

On Saturday just after 11:00 p.m., Fort Vermilion RCMP were advised by the La Crete Fire Department that a 14-year-old male had gone missing after hiking with friends and family, after it was reported that the male had gotten separated from the group during the hike.

RCMP would respond by setting up a large grid search, which would take place for approximately twelve hours before the youth would finally be located by La Crete EMS. After being assessed, the male would then be released.

The Fort Vermilion RCMP would call upon several other local crews to assist in the search, including the La Crete Fire Department, La Crete EMS, and RCMP Police Dog Services.

Buffalo Head Prairie is located sixty-four kilometres southeast of High Level.
