Grande Prairie-Mackenzie MP takes on new role in PC Party

The Member of Parliament for the Grande Prairie-Mackenzie riding will part of the Progressive Conservative Caucus’ leadership team. Chris Warkentin was appointed as the Opposition Leader’s Office’s Coordinator by Party Leader, Andrew Scheer. “It is a real privilege for me to be asked to serve in this new role,” says Warkentin. “Having elected so many new members, we are the largest official opposition in Canadian history in terms of the numbers of our caucus.”

Warkentin says with a minority government for the 43rd edition of Parliament, his job will be too coordinate and work with all opposition members, not just the tory caucus. “Our belief is that this Parliament has to hold (Prime Minister) Justin Trudeau to account for his failures and lack of transparency,” mentions Warkentin. “That’s what my job will be, partly, to do. To coordinate our party and work with other opposition parties to ensure that this Parliament holds the Prime Minister accountable.”

MPs return to Ottawa on December 5th.
