An Edmonton man is being charged with child pornography related charges after a father reported his 10 year old daughter had been persuaded to send sexually explicit photos to someone she had met online.
On January 29th, ALERT officers, along with Edmonton Police Service members, executed a search warrant in the downtown Edmonton area where 21 year old Cody Normand was arrested. Normand was charged with making, distributing and possessing child pornography, one count of breach of probation and two counts of child luring.
ICE officers couldn’t elaborate if there were more victims but did point out there are two charges of child luring. during the raid multiple electronic devices were seized containing child pornography. these devices will be going under further investigation.
The father submitted his report through the Cybertip, a reporting service ran by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.

“With new apps appearing all the time and evolving technologies, we know it can be difficult for parents to navigate online safety with their kids,” Cybertip.ca director Stephen Sauer said. The child was talking to Normand through a social media website although which one was not specified.
