Dialysis Unit For High Prairie Moving Forward

The UCP government has committed operating funding for the dialysis unit in High Prairie.

Health minister Tyler Shandro made that announcement during question period at the legislature this week.

The previous NDP government had announced back in February a commitment of $5.2 million to build the unit.

In a statement on his Facebook page, Lesser Slave Lake MLA Pat Rehn says quote, “The dialysis unit in High Prairie is one of the top issues I hear from my constituents, and I am so pleased that our government has committed operating funding for our new dialysis unit.”

Right now, residents in High Prairie have to drive to either Slave Lake or Peace River to access dialysis services.

So far, there is no word yet on when the construction of the unit will be completed.
